Oliver, a third-round pick by the Rangers in the 1988 First-Year Player Draft, broke in with the club in 1993. Dealt by Texas to St. Louis in July 1998, Oliver returned to Arlington for a 2000-01 stint.
He spent the last three seasons as a key middle reliever for the Angels, compiling a 15-3 record with a 3.10 ERA in 178 games. Last season, Oliver went 5-1 with a 2.71 ERA in 63 appearances.
